External Mic when recording on Android app?

Hi guys, I can’t seem to find any info on whether an external mic improves sound quality when using the android app? I have done tests with different mics (shotgun, bluetooth) and I can’t detect any change in the different recordings.

Does the app only use the in-built mic in the phone? Or is there a way to change a setting so that it uses an external mic?

There are two things to consider here:

  1. Verifying your microphone works when recording a video. To test this make a video with your headset plugged in and tap the microphone, then go back and play the video and see if you hear the taps in the recording.

  2. Determine which audio quality is better from the native microphone on your phone and the headset.
